The Kings of Late…
Posted on 11 Feb 2011 by Eric Cooney.
Let's dive right in… The Good… The Kings have points in their last 7 games with a record of 5-0-2. They have points in every game of their current road trip, going 2-0-2, with 6 games ahead on the road. The Bad… The Kings lost in overtime last night to the Penguins who were without Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Chris Kunitz, and Matt Cooke. Severely depleted would be an un...

Short-handed Penguins skate past Isles 1-0
Posted on 26 Jan 2011 by Dave Thomas.
Even with the NHL's top player sitting out and another key member of the team sidelined by injury, the Pittsburgh Penguins still had enough to skate past the New York Islanders 1-0 Tuesday night in Pittsburgh. With superstars Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin sidelined, goalie Marc-Andre Fleury stepped up with 29 saves to lead the Pens to the win against a struggling Islanders squad. The Pittsbur...

Not this time for the Bruins
Posted on 15 Jan 2011 by Jim Mulligan.
The Boston Bruins hosted the Pittsburgh Penguins at the TD Garden this afternoon. It was the third time they've played each other and the first here in Boston. Both games in Pittsburgh, it was the Penguins jumping out to big leads only to have the Bruins come back to steal victories from the Pens. With the exception of the result, today was no different. Chris Kunitz's first period goal comb...

Tough Break For Ryan Callahan After Rangers Crush Pens
Posted on 16 Dec 2010 by Margaret DeJesus.
Who would have thought the Rangers could outscore two Eastern Conference powerhouses, the Capitals and Penguins, by a margin of 11-1? After a flat end to the first period, the Rangers fought back and never gave up. Even after their alternate captain, who is the clear heart and soul of the team, broke his hand, the Rangers managed to pull out a 4-1 win with a dominating third period. It was Chri...

Shots and Cheap Shots in Pittsburgh
Posted on 26 Nov 2010 by Mika Oehling.
If the Ottawa Senators got an undeserved win against the LA Kings off bad calls, they were paid back with an undeserved loss against the Pittsburgh Penguins in an afternoon melee that ended 2-1 in favour of the Pens. It was a close game right up until the end and neither team took a holiday as the shots on goal hit the 80 plus mark on the day, keeping both goaltenders very very busy. The good n...

On Ice Or Grass
Posted on 20 Nov 2010 by Michael Waterloo.
Isn't it funny how much can change in one week? Last week the Steelers were 6-2 and people around town were ready to buy their airplane ticket to Dallas for the Super Bowl. Last week the Penguins found themselves in a rough spot with their Goalie situation and the fans wanted Marc-Andre Fleury and Coach Dan Bylsma out of town. A week later, the Steelers lose a game to the Patriots, who ar...

‘Canes on Wrong End of Terrible Call
Posted on 20 Nov 2010 by Eric Cooney.
Last night the Hurricanes were tied with the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-3 in the third period when a rather confusing set of events took place. With 9:19 left in the period, referee Greg Kimmerly blew his whistle, seemingly because the puck had disappeared beneath Justin Peters pads after a shot by Chris Kunitz. (more…)

B’s Close Strong, Beat Pittsburgh 7-4
Posted on 11 Nov 2010 by Matt Preston.
Some people would say I should consider myself lucky to get such an exciting contest to cover as I made my site debut. One that resulted in a dominating 7-4 Bruins win, no less. Sadly, if I get to stick around here long enough, you’ll come to find out that I am not the most optimistic guy in the world. The way I see it, tonight’s game was another example of what I’m beginning to feel is g...

Sign of Things to Come?
Posted on 10 Oct 2010 by RJ Emptage.
Round 1 of the battle of Ontario and it seems the Toronto Maple Leafs haven't missed a beat. Securing their opening night victory against the Montreal Canadiens, the Leafs welcomed the Ottawa Senators to the ACC in a game dominated by the home team. Looking to over-shadow last seasons horrific start, the Leafs showed relentless puck pursuit from the opening face-off and never looked back in ach...

Officiating, Flyers Lack of Urgecy Leads to Loss in Ottawa
Posted on 24 Mar 2010 by Mike Santa Barbara.
The Flyers were victims of perhaps the worst non-call of this Hockey season. Simon Gagne was cross checked face first into the boards by Anton Volchenkov, as Gagne laid on the ice, the Senators scored. Gagne attacked Volchenkov after the goal and promptly received nine minutes in penalties, which led to a seven minute power play for the Senators. The Senators were rewarded for a dirty hit that ...
