Rim Rocking Notes: Vegas Summer League Day 5
Posted on 18 Jul 2012 by Warren Shaw.
Las Vegas, Nevada Day 5 of the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas was full of the normal action one would expect from such an event. Unfortunately, the biggest news of the day concerns the health of Portland Trailblazers second-year guard Nolan Smith. An excerpt from CBS Sports explains the scary scene: Portland Trail Blazers guard Nolan Smith was hospitalized after taking a blow to the head during...

Rim Rocking Notes: Vegas Summer League Day 3
Posted on 16 Jul 2012 by Warren Shaw.
Day 3 of the Vegas Summer League saw 7 games on the slate with the debuts of multiple lottery picks. I was unable to catch all of the action for I am only one man. A little bit of a format change from Days 1 and 2 but here's what I saw: Phoenix Suns: Markieff Morris battled early foul trouble as he was not taking defense seriously guarding the little known Chris Copeland from the Knicks. He shi...

Spurs’ Win Streak Ends…Should They be Worried? How Will the All-Star Break Make Them Better?
Posted on 23 Feb 2012 by Chelsea Curto.
All good things must come to an end, right? But do they have to come as a blowout loss to the Portland Trailblazers? The Spurs had not lost in over a month before heading into Portland Tuesday night on their eighth road game in a row and with an 11 game win streak. The game was nothing short of a disaster. Yes, Duncan and Parker sat out, but the fact that the Spurs lost by FORTY points against ...

Irving Heating up as Cavs Respectable on Road
Posted on 15 Jan 2012 by Bradley Ross.
The Cavs have gone 2-4 on this road trip and are 2-3 since the last article. Considering the expectations of the team, this isn't too shabby. Coming into the road trip, they had faced a lot of teams that, like the Cavs, really sucked in '10-'11. The combined record of the 3 teams the lost to (Portland, Utah, and the Lakers) is 23-14, winning over 60% of their games. While they got blown...

Top Ten NBA Draft Busts of All-Time
Posted on 24 Jun 2011 by Mick Moody.
Because my roommate is unable to comprehend any information from TV other than sports, I was forced to watch that butchering of a draft last night. David Stern might as well have just announcing the retirements of all the draftees because we will never hear any of those names again. One thing the draft did prompt me to do was to take a look at some of the all-time monumental draft busts in the ...

Mavs Look to end Tough Series in Portland Tonight
Posted on 28 Apr 2011 by Andy R Strom.
The Dallas Mavericks enter tonight’s game 6 in Portland after a big bounce back win in game 5. The Mavs were led by the tenacity of center Tyson Chandler and his rebounding exhibition with a 20 board night. Keeping Chandler out of foul trouble and on the court will be an obvious key to the Mavs success in game 6. The Mavs have always had a tough time getting wins in Portland thought. The Blaz...

Mavs and Mavs Fans Must Remember
Posted on 24 Apr 2011 by Alexei Wall.
The Mavs have the homecourt advantage in this first round series with the Portland Trailblazers. I was shocked to hear all of the locals here in Dallas/Ft Worth that were declaring the Mavs were ready for the finals after, simply, keeping the homecourt advantage after winning games 1 and 2. It pointed to the lack of understanding of how NBA basketball works, but that's par for the course for ...

Kidd Key to Game 1
Posted on 17 Apr 2011 by Alexei Wall.
Now, who was that team that won game 1 of the opening playoff series with the Portland Trailblazers 89-81, lead by Dirk's double-double of 28 pts and 10 rebs. The key to the game 1 win was Jason Kidd though, who was 6 of 10 from 3 pt range and had 24 pts in the game to go along with 5 rebs, 4 assts, and 2 stls. That's a great game from Kidd. The issue that always plagues the Mavs is that you ca...

The Butler Did It, Hayward Lead Jazz Past Lakers
Posted on 6 Apr 2011 by Wilson Tarpeh Jr..
The Utah Jazz did what few people thought possible, they went into Los Angeles and beat the red-hot Lakers!! Utah was short-handed as has been the case most of the season, as Devin Harris missed another game due to an injury. Utah beat the Lakers 86-85 despite Andrew Bynum's big night on the boards, Bynum scored 12 points and pulled down 23 rebounds!!! Utah still out-rebounded the Lakers 52-4...

Four is the New Loneliest Number
Posted on 30 Mar 2011 by Chris Aquillino.
I wish that I had something interesting or important to write after our boys (yes, those San Antonio Spurs — the team with the NBA's best record) had just lost their fourth straight game. I don't. This was not a statement game, or a trap game for the Spurs. It wasn't a game that matters for seeding or playoff match-ups. Monday night's game at home versus a hot Portland Trailblazer...

Lakeshow Rounding Into Shape
Posted on 14 Mar 2011 by Arthur Kai.
The Los Angeles Lakers defeat the Dallas Mavericks 96-91 Saturday night to end their four-game road trip 3-1. The Lakers are regaining form, and clearly are treating the second half of the season like their playoff tune-up. The Mamba and Co. went into American Airlines Center and still reminded the Mavericks that they are the team to beat, without even putting their best foot forward. The Mamba...

Lakeshow Pull Away Late from Timberwolves
Posted on 2 Mar 2011 by Arthur Kai.
The Los Angeles Lakers prove to be too much for the Timberwolves in Minnesota, as they win going away 90-79. The win gives the Lakeshow a five-game winning streak since the all-star break, as they are now playing with a renewed purpose and sense of focus. The Lakers didn't shoot the ball well in this game, but relied on its defense late, as well as the 53-39 advantage on the boards. The Mamba l...
