Posted on 14 Mar 2012 by Steve Folsom.
Longer days and warmer temperatures can only mean one thing: Colorado Rockies baseball is back. The Rockies enter their 20th season as a professional baseball franchise and aim to win their first N.L. West title. There is always a lot of shuffling of players during the off-season and this winter was no different. Here is a recap of the Rockies key moves they hope can push them into the pl...

Where the Jays Stand – Catcher
Posted on 12 Oct 2011 by Ben Fisher.
It’s too late to do a recap of the Toronto Blue Jays’ 2011 season and too early to start previewing 2012, so let’s keep the content flowing with something in the middle. Starting now, I will be examining the club on a quick-hit, position-by-position basis to evaluate how the Jays stacked up and where they go now as they (hopefully) head into contention. We’ll do this numerically, with ...

Posted on 18 May 2011 by Cliff Eastham.
AP Photo/ Al Behrman The Cincinnati Reds dozed a path directly to the top of the National League Central Division. Going into the weekend series with St. Louis they trailed the Cards by 1 ½ games. After sweeping their rivals the Reds found themselves atop the division by the same game and a half. The series with the Cards was a masterpiece to Reds fans. Cards’ skipper, Tony LaRussa did not m...

Picture It…

Picture it. You’re a rookie who is starting your 3rd week of major league baseball. This particular game is special because of the events surrounding it. They call it the “Civil Rights Game,” and it has brought baseball legends to the ballpark to watch. Hall of Famers like Frank Robinson, Henry Aaron, Ernie Banks, and Willie Mays. It has also brought out a sellout crowd, something you’...

Reds Comeback Falls Short
Posted on 15 May 2010 by Dave Allen.
It’s too bad it had to end like that. With a chance to move into first place in the Central division, the Reds were putting together what they hoped would be another game-winning rally in their last at-bat, only to see it fizzle into a game-ending 6-4-3 double play. St. Louis had put together a 4-0 lead against starter Aaron Harang, but Cincinnati kept coming after them. Two runs in the 7th o...

Piniella left Dempster in too long
Posted on 9 May 2010 by Eddie Kim.
Cubs' color commentator Bob Brenly first guessed the move as it happened. After the Chicago offense finally broke through against Reds' starter Mike Leake to take a 3-2 lead in the seventh inning, manager Lou Piniella tasked starter Ryan Dempster to bridge all the way to set-up man Carlos Zambrano. Dempster immediately ran into trouble by allowing a lead-off double to Ramon Hernandez in the bot...

Reds Looking Good for 2010
Posted on 5 Apr 2010 by Dave Allen.
The Reds have shown steady improvement over the last three seasons and fans in Cincinnati think that this could be the year for their team. Not in the way you might think, however. Despite even MLB Network’s 30 Teams in 30 Days series labeling the Reds as the “sexy dark horse pick” to make the NL Playoffs, Queen City baseball fans don’t truly believe that the Reds will play in the posts...

Chapman struggles as Reds get hammered
Posted on 22 Mar 2010 by Dave Allen.
The Reds fell to Colorado 9-1 in Cactus League action on Monday in Goodyear. Brad Eldred hit two homers and drove in three to lead the Rockies’ attack. It was a tough day for Cincinnati on both sides of the ball. The Reds offense only managed five hits. This was more disappointing because the lineup was basically the projected starting lineup for Opening Day. They played the required five inn...

Reds fall to Tribe… again
Posted on 18 Mar 2010 by Dave Allen.
The Cleveland Indians continued their mastery over their spring training complex partner as they beat the Reds 6-2 on Thursday afternoon. Wes Hodges went 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBI to lead the Indians. They have won all four meetings with Cincinnati this spring with two more head-to-head matchups on the schedule. Things got off to a good start for Cincinnati early. Cleveland made a change...
