Sharks Re-Sign Thornton to Extension

According to sources at ESPN, the San Jose Sharks have re-signed Joe Thornton to a 3-year $21 million extension. Thornton, 31, is slated to earn $7.2 million this season and was set to become an unrestricted free-agent this summer and has also publicly expressed his interest in staying with the Sharks in recent interviews especially after being named team captain.
