It seems that no matter how bad Tiger plays or if he even plays at all, he just cannot lose his number one rank. Both Lee Westwood and Phil Mickleson had golden opportunities to take the number one rank at Firestone. Since Westwood pulled out due to injury I guess he is off the hook this time.
