Devils Win; Prospect Shines for Canada
Posted on 29 Dec 2011 by Jordan DiRisio.
The Devils beat the Sabres with relative ease last night to get back on the winning track. After dropping 2 of 3 the Devils won against Buffalo 3-1 and if not for the strong play of Ryan Miller New Jersey could have scored 5 goals. Brodeur and the defensive was particularly impressive in their own zone and did a great job of minimizing quality scoring chances for the sabres. The Devils got 2 go...

A Statement Game in Buffalo
Posted on 24 Nov 2011 by Matt Preston.
With the dark cloud of what happened 11 days ago hanging over the First Niagara Center in Buffalo, NY, both the Boston Bruins and Buffalo Sabers took to the ice on Wednesday night looking to make a statement in this Northeast Division match-up. Both teams made their statement, but in the end it was the Bruins who came out on top with a 4-3, shootout victory. For the Sabres, they came into the g...

Who is Milan Lucic?
Posted on 14 Nov 2011 by Matt Preston.
At 13:10 of the first period in Saturday night’s Boston Bruins-Buffalo Sabres match-up, Bruins left-wing Milan Lucic mishandled a breakaway attempt and, as a result, lowered his shoulder, laying a vicious body check on Sabres goaltender Ryan Miller, who was charging from his goal crease to play the loose puck. As Miller spun, toppling to the ground while taking a two-handed swing with his sti...

The ink may still be wet on the legal documents that Terry Pegula signed to take over the Buffalo Sabres, but one thing is for certain, he wants to put his stamp on his team and fast. Pegula is determined to bring a Stanley Cup to Buffalo and will spend away to make it happen if he has to. He has said he wants to win a cup with his core three of Ryan Miller, Tyler Myers and Thomas Vanek, ri...

If the Buffalo Sabres want to get into the 2011 edition of the Stanley Cup Playoffs they will need to make a move or two at the NHL Trade Deadline on Monday. Buffalo, who currently sits 3 points out of the the 8th and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, need to make a charge and fast. Granted the Sabres do have two games in hand on the 8th place Carolina Hurricanes, but that mea...

Sudden Death Sabres
Posted on 16 Nov 2010 by George Kouvalis.
What more can you say about the Buffalo Sabres right now. The Sabres have been to extra time in the past five games and have finally won a game on home ice after going winless at the HSBC Arena in their first seven contests. The reason for all this is a couple of factors. First off Jhonas Enroth. Enroth came into the starters role after All World Goalie Ryan Miller went down with an injur...

Sabres off to a poor start
Posted on 18 Oct 2010 by George Kouvalis.
Maybe Lindy Ruff is finally on the hot seat in Buffalo. The Buffalo Sabres have started their 2010-2011 NHL season off and suffice to say it hasn't been a good so far. With a chance to get off to a great start as four of their first six games in the season were at home, the others in Ottawa and Chicago, the Sabres didn't take advantage. The Sabres are off to a 1-4-1, including 0-3-1 at ...

Sabres Need better home cookin’
Posted on 12 Oct 2010 by George Kouvalis.
The Buffalo Sabres probably wouldn't have imagined themselves not taking at least one point in their first two games at home but that was just the case after another home loss on Monday night to the defending Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Black Hawks. The Sabres, who opened their season with a win on Friday night in Ottawa, didn't look like the same Northeast Division Champions as last season. ...

Derek Stepan Shines in Rangers’ Debut
Posted on 9 Oct 2010 by Margaret DeJesus.
The new kid on the block looks right at home. Derek Stepan beat last year's Vezina winning top goaltender Ryan Miller three times in his NHL debut as the Rangers won 6-3. (And his mom was in the house, beaming of course. His father, Brad Stepan was drafted by the Rangers in 1985.) The 2008 second-round draft pick (that's right, second round, 51st overall) scored once in the first period on a m...

Sabres Drop the Curtain
Posted on 8 Oct 2010 by William Brouillette.
Tonight is the night! The 2010-2011 kicks off with a game in Kanata versus the Sabres blood rival: the Ottawa Senators. What better way to start the season then a game against a truly despised enemy, eh? Can game 1 of 82 be a vitally important game? Absolutely! Why? The Senators have handed the Sabres their lunch, breakfast, and dinner since the Sabres punked them and shocked the world in the...
