FANTASTIC 4…AND A LOSS
Posted on 17 Feb 2011 by KARLY TAMBARA.
After dominating on a four game road trip, the Ducks returned home for a minute to play host to the talented, but under-performing, Capitals tonight. On their travels to Colorado and through Canada, the Ducks became one of the hottest teams in the NHL. Versus the pre-Forsberg Avalanche, Curtis McEhinney, who had to step between the pipes for the scratched Hiller due to fatigue and light heade...

TO CANADA AND BEYOND

For the past four games, Saku Koivu and the Ducks have been touring Canada on their latest road trip, which started at Rexall Place on the 16th and ended last night at the Bell Centre, formerly known as the Molson Centre. In their travels, the Ducks won three (two in shoot outs) and lost one. Last night’s game was significant for the Ducks and Koivu in that it was his first appearance in Mont...

Jamie Langenbrunner: The First to Go
Posted on 7 Jan 2011 by Mike Luciano.
It's old news that the Devil's captain Jamie Langenbrunner has been asked to waive his no-trade clause. Langenbrunner was a healthy scratch in tonight's 4-2 loss against the Philadelphia Flyers and confirmed himself he's standing by waiting to be traded. It's obviously a sad sight to see Langenbrunner, who's been a part of the organization for almost eight seasons, have his days numbered. When ...

HOME SWEET HOME
Posted on 3 Jan 2011 by KARLY TAMBARA.
On Tuesday, 12/28, the Ducks ended their longest road trip of the season with a win over the Phoenix Coyotes. Once again, the Ducks were outshot 32-24 but scored three goals in the first period and hung on to their lead the rest of the game, allowing only a goal by Shane Doan in the second period on a 5 on 3 power play. Defenseman, Andreas Lilja, was all over the ice with 7 blocked shots, and...

DUCKS TAKE A DIVE
Posted on 27 Nov 2010 by KARLY TAMBARA.
Black Friday for shoppers was indeed a black Friday for the Ducks marred by a 4-1 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks, bringing their current losing streak to six games. After the Ducks’ first six game win streak in over two years, they then turned around and tallied road losses to Chicago, Dallas, and Minnesota, before losing on home ice to the Columbus Blue Jackets, the Edmonton Oilers, and la...

BATTLE OF THE BIRDS
Posted on 6 Nov 2010 by KARLY TAMBARA.
The Honda Center played host to the annual meeting of the Battle of the Birds on Friday night, with the Ducks taking on the Pittsburgh Penguins. I was in attendance, along with 17, 173 other fans of the fowl for the second sell-out game of the season. Going into the game, the Pens were 4-0-1 in 5 meetings with the Ducks dating back to the lockout. Marc-Andre Fleury, who was 4-0 versus the D...

Saku’s Time in Montreal
Posted on 12 Oct 2010 by Laura Rollins.
A little cheat today. I recently published the following article in the Finnish sports magazine Urheilulehti, as part of the 2010-2011 NHL season-opening issue. It accompanied a much longer essay on the Koivu family (Saku, Mikko and father Jukka) by Finnish hockey analyst Petteri Sihvonen. Saku's Time Saku Koivu's status as a hero in Montreal, as one of our beloved sons, was not simply a pr...

Is it time for Giggy to go?
Posted on 9 Nov 2009 by Dan Caristo.
After fifteen games, the Ducks are 6-7-2 and are lately have been improving each game. The off season aquisition of Saku Koivu has not lived up to expectations as of yet, but the feisty center has a while for that to change. Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf seem to be in mid-season form, and are carrying this team on their backs. Helping them out is goaltender Jonas Hiller. He's 6-5-1 with a ...

Summer Recap
Posted on 1 Sep 2009 by Dan Caristo.
Before I comment about the Ducks off-season moves, I'd like to apologize for not updating my blog throughout the summer. I spent the summer traveling and was unable to consistently get to a computer. But I'm back now and ready to get the season started! After the Ducks lost to the Wings in May, I wondered what GM Bob Murray had planned for the summer. I also wondered if Teemu Selann...

Cause for Celebration or Cause for Concern?
Posted on 25 Mar 2009 by Corey Krakower.
Is the glass half full or is the glass half empty? There are two ways to look at Montreal’s 6-3 win, Tuesday night over the Atlanta Thrashers. The optimistic part of me sees major improvement, while the pessimistic part of me sees a mediocre performance against a sub par team. The Glass is Half Full - For the first time in a while, the Canadiens held the opposition to a respectable n...
