Longhorns Hook Tigers
Posted on 30 Jan 2011 by Nate Jacobson.
Two trips to the Lone Star State have resulted in a pair of losses for the Tigers. Two week after their loss at Texas A&M, the Tigers were outmuscled by Texas 71-58. The defeat leaves the Tigers 3-3 in the Big 12 and still searching for their first conference road win. A slow start proved detrimental to the Tigers, who saw the Longhorns jump out to an 11-0 advantage. After that the Tigers f...

MIKE MILLER’S EXPLOSION IGNITES HEAT
Posted on 23 Jan 2011 by Sean Eckhardt.
Finally! On Saturday night the Miami Heat got what they paid for. No, I'm not talking about the big three, Miami thrice, or tres grande. For the first time this season, Mike Miller showed up and showed up big. On a night when the Heat would be without both Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, the team was looking for someone to contribute. The good news is that they got a few guys to ...

Consistency still an issue in Memphis
Posted on 18 Jan 2011 by Jacob Wells.
Despite shooting 49 percent the Memphis Grizzlies lost to Chicago Bulls on Monday 96-84 at The FedEx Forum. Obviously that's a joke as the Bulls shot damn near 70 percent. Love the defensive effort. I'm just sick of the inconsistecy in the team. For the first time all season I actually went to a Grizzlies game on Saturday night. They hosted the Dallas Mavericks and Dirk came back and wh...

Islanders charge past Sabres 5-3, Tavares nets hat trick
Posted on 16 Jan 2011 by Dave Thomas.
As New York Islanders fans have come to know this season, you never quite know which Islander team is going to show up. On Saturday night in Uniondale, 2009 number one draft pick John Tavares netted three goals in notching his second NHL hat trick, as the Islanders topped in-state rival Buffalo 5-3. New York defeated Buffalo 5-3 Saturday night on Long Island./Associated Press Along the way, g...

KARI’S REVENGE
Posted on 15 Jan 2011 by Travis Currie.
Kari Lehtonen had the oppurtunity Saturday night to show up his old Atlanta team that traded him eleven months ago and he took full advantage. He turned aside 29 of 30 shots and the guys infront did the rest. The Thrashers gave up on Lehtonen last February and traded him to the Stars. He was drafted 2nd overall back in 2002 by the Thrashers but has battled injuries ever since and hasn't been ab...

Jayhawks Tested, Emerge Unbeaten
Posted on 15 Jan 2011 by Shaun Albin.
Saturday’s game appeared, by all accounts, to be the game that could give the Jayhawks that one momentum building dominant effort. Perennial Big 12 punching bag Nebraska visited the undefeated #2 team in the country. However, when the final buzzer sounded, the Jayhawks emerged by the slimmest of margins. The Huskers seemed to dictate the tempo immediately. Doc Sadler’s group slowed th...

FALCONS FACE HOT PACKERS AGAIN IN GA DOME
Posted on 14 Jan 2011 by Mark Anthony Williams.
Saturday night, the Atlanta Falcons (13-3) will face the Green Bay Packers (11-5) at the Georgia Dome for the second time in 6 weeks. The Falcons were able to hold on and defeat the Packers 20-17 last November despite Green Bay’s dominance statistically. Aaron Rogers had a goal-line fumble which, after the fact, clearly cost GB the game. Green Bay (GB) realized 418 yard against the Falcon...

Tigers Win Big 12 Home Opener
Posted on 13 Jan 2011 by Nate Jacobson.
For the last couple weeks at Mizzou Arena it has been the Marcus Denmon show. Wednesday was no different as Denmon matched a career best with 27 points to lead the Tigers (14-2, 1-1 Big 12) to a 77-69 over the Nebraska Cornhuskers (13-3, 1-1). Denmon has had seven games where he has reached 20 points or more. The strength to his game has been his three-point shooting, and he put on another clin...

Head(ing) Down
Posted on 11 Jan 2011 by Warren Shaw.
One would think that after Saturday's lackluster effort in Chicago where the Celtics were handled 90-79 by the Bulls, that the Celtics would be ready to pummel the Rockets on Monday night. One would think… The Rockets entered the game without the services of leading scorer Kevin Martin, big man Brad Miller, and a hobbling Aaron Brooks. Not to mention they were losers of 5 straight games. ...
