Los Angeles Angels Update
Posted on 26 Sep 2012 by Joshua Skelton.
Manager Mike Scioscia has been trying really hard for us to lose these very important games. His pitching changes have been curious at best. He took Jerome Williams out of the first game, in a very important series against Texas, when he was shutting down the Rangers in a big way, for Garrett Richards who proceeded to give up 2 runs when we were on our way back into that game. Then, instead of ...

Angels pitching continues to stink up baseball
Posted on 20 Aug 2012 by Bill Mahoney.
Is it time for Mike Butcher to refresh his resume? After this weekends debacle that saw his pitchers give 46 hits and 37 earned runs, it appears his pitchers have quit on him. Maybe they've quit on Scioscia, I don't know, but it sure looks like they quit on someone. On a positive note, at least the Halos played good defense the past 4 days. A few things chapped my ass this weekend. I'll give ...

Searching for answers, Angels shake up roster (They still lost to Cleveland)
Posted on 27 Apr 2012 by Bill Mahoney.
The Angels finally solved one of their outfield problems when they released Bobby Abreu today. It's an inglorious ending for a guy who gave the Angels fans many a rush with his clutch hitting, and stolen bases. He's not retiring, so he'll be picked up quickly. I was told the Halos recalled Mike Trout, who his hitting better than .400 in SLC. If that is true about Trout, I do have some questi...

Albert who? The rest of the Angels prove to a royal pain in the A** to Kansas City
Posted on 7 Apr 2012 by Bill Mahoney.
Spring training stats mean absolutely nothing. Coming in tonight's season opener, Jered Weaver had a spring ERA of nearly 6. Bruce Chen's spring ERA was close to 10. What did those 2 do? They combined to throw 14 scoreless innings, while striking out 14. The Angels vaunted offense was completely shut down by Chen, who gave up just 3 hits in 6 innings. Halos came close to pushing over a run in ...

One day after getting rolled, Angels ride high—smoke the Jays

First the AL West. Angels are a full 5 games back of the Rangers. Texas is playing at Oakland, and with my apologies to my friend Scott, that is great. That is, if you are a Rangers fan. Texas spends the money, and has a ball playing the A's. I think they have won 11 of the past 12 meetings. Division champs: The Texas Rangers. Now the Wild card. Believe it or not, the Angels are just 3.5 back o...

For the love of Pete, the Angels can’t complete the sweep against the Yankees
Posted on 11 Sep 2011 by Bill Mahoney.
No complaining here. Any time a team can take 2 of 3 from the team with the 2nd best record in baseball, all's good in this corner. The Angels had a great chance to win Sunday's game, but it just wasn't to be. Well, there were a couple of things that went wrong. With all the great catches he makes, it's easy to forget that Peter Bourjos is human. His error in the 7th turned a tie game, in to a...

Fernando Rodney sucks
Posted on 4 Sep 2011 by Bill Mahoney.
That's the best title I could think of. I did consider a couple others: The Angels season goes Plouffe The Twins spank the Angels, and Tyler too You get the drift, I was stuck, so I just went with the first thing that came to my mind after watching the Angels, and looking over the box score. Rodney came in to Friday's game with the Angels trailing 8-4. 5 batters later, Rodney left the game, wit...

It’s splitsville in Seattle, but the Angels remain in the race.
Posted on 2 Sep 2011 by Bill Mahoney.
The Angels split 4 games in Seattle, but they only lost a half game to the Texas Rangers. I would say the baseball gods are smiling on the Halos. Man, I wanted the Angels to beat Felix Hernandez for the 3rd time this year. They had a good chance to do just that on Wednesday, until Scott Downs gave up a 2-run double to Mike Carp. Did you see that stat that said the Angels bullpen has blown 27% o...

3 is not a charm for the Halos
Posted on 29 Aug 2011 by Bill Mahoney.
Angels did what I expected them to do, I just picked the wrong pitcher. I know many were talking Angel sweep, or even taking 2 of 3 from the Rangers. I expected them to win one, but I thought Jered Weaver would get the win. So, I am 1 for 2. Was an exciting game on Sunday. Early on, it looked like the Halos would pull away, but after Texas tied the game at 4, I just knew it was a matter of time...

Jays Bring Back Encarnacion, Lose Others
Posted on 16 Dec 2010 by Ben Fisher.
Hands up those of you who thought that the Blue Jays would opt to welcome back free agents Jason Frasor and Edwin Encarnacion. Since I clearly can’t see how many of you have raised your hands, I’ll safely assume that few – if any – of you called it. I sure didn’t. Both men were brought back with relatively little risk – Frasor at a modest salary which arbitration will determine and...

Rajai Davis Kicks Off Jays’ Off-Season
Posted on 17 Nov 2010 by Ben Fisher.
One day after losing out on Atlanta-bound Dan Uggla, Alex Anthopoulos made his first move in what should be an intriguing off-season. The Blue Jays GM acquired speedy outfielder Rajai Davis from the A’s in exchange for potential future closer Trystan Magnuson and fellow relief prospect Daniel Farquhar. Far be it for me to question Anthopoulos, who has yet to blend a real miss in with his slew...

Phillies Manage to hire Hall of Famer Sandberg!
Posted on 15 Nov 2010 by Christopher Rowe.
The Phillies have hired Hall of Famer Ryne Sandberg to manage their Triple A Lehigh Valley club, the team announced Monday morning. Speculation has swirled for the past week as former Iowa Cubs manager and former Cubs Hall of Fame player Ryne Sandberg was passed over to succeed Lou Pinella as Chicago Cubs manager. Mike Quade got that job in a recent announcement despite Sandberg managing at all...
