“When it Rains, it Pours”
Posted on 9 Mar 2011 by Brendan Kelly.
Villanova has officially hit rock bottom. After finally looking like the team they were expected to be, in the first half of their first round game of the Big East tournament against South Florida Tuesday night, Villanova blew a 16 point halftime lead and lost to the 2nd worst team in the conference. It was the 5th loss in a row for the Wildcats who look like a mentally broken team and are beyo...

Balance is Key for Cards
Posted on 9 Jan 2011 by John Buffone.
If this is truly a “bridge year” for the Cardinals as Rick Pitino has stated several times so far this season, Louisville has to be considered the best rebuilding team in the Big East if not the country. Thae Cards are currently 13-2 overall and are 2-0 in Big East play. Louisville’s most recent 86-77 victory over South Florida epitomizes how the Cards are going to try to win games this y...

USF Beats The U

South Florida ( 7-4) pulls off the upset at Miami ( 7-5) with a 23-20 win in overtime. Demetris Murray's second touchdown of the game was the difference. With this win against Miami, the Bulls remain perfect in overtime, they are now 9-0 in the extra session. Two of those nine wins in overtime have happened twice in the last three weeks. South Florida has really grown up in the month of...

Can Syracuse Fans Get Excited Yet?
Posted on 14 Oct 2010 by Lutfi Sariahmed.
Break up the Orange! No? Not yet? Well if not now then when? Every Syracuse Orange fan (or at least every reasonable fan) is looking at this team right now thinking the same thing. “This team is 4-1. It is three wins away from making a bowl game barring something DRASTIC. This is a team that was 1-10 not too long ago. I want to get excited but it beat Akron, Colgate and Maine. Was the South F...

Syracuse moves to 4-1 with a win over USF
Posted on 10 Oct 2010 by Lutfi Sariahmed.
Syracuse was 0-5 against South Florida going into the game on Saturday at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa. Now make it 1-5. Was it easy? No. Was it pretty? Absolutely not. But when you’re not that far removed from a 1-10 season a win by any means is a win you’ll take. More than that, this win puts the Big East on notice. Syracuse is not to be taken lightly all season. Expectations going into...

Syracuse v. South Florida Preview
Posted on 8 Oct 2010 by Lutfi Sariahmed.
The Big East season is finally upon us. What does it mean? At this point you could legitimately make the argument that six of the eight teams in the conference could win the league. If Syracuse beats South Florida convincingly enough this week in Tampa you could add the Orange to that list as well. Would I pick them to beat West Virginia with a win? Probably not. But the main point here is that...

Take No Bull: SU-USF Preview
Posted on 6 Oct 2010 by Beth Ann Clyde.
The title of this blog entry is paying homage to the homecoming t-shirt SU gave out my freshman year. The shirts said “The Orange takes No Bull from South Florida.” Let’s just say the high light of the game was two fans getting ejected for holding up signs making fun of Chancellor Nancy Cantor. Okay, I’ll also remind you that Syracuse lost 27-0. 2005 was the first meeting between SU and...

What To Make of the Orange

Syracuse 42 Colgate 7. Delone Carter reminded everyone he's one of the best running backs in the conference with a four touchdown performance. Ryan Nassib managed the game well enough for a win. The defense allowed only seven points and Syracuse is 3-1. This was the 2nd FCS win in consecutive weeks so that will be the extent of my analysis on that game as Syracuse now heads into the bye week be...
