Thrashers to Winnipeg, Effect on Kings?
Posted on 31 May 2011 by Eric Cooney.
So it was made official this morning that the Atlanta Thrashers have been sold and are moving north to Winnipeg. The organization will have its hands full over the next season and beyond as they attempt to prove that a small Canadian market is better than the large Atlanta market. The way things were going in Atlanta, I have no doubt that Winnipeg will have more enthusiasm for the club than...

Romo Gathering the Troops and Other Cowboy Tidbits
Posted on 14 May 2011 by David Willow.
Before I begin the blog i think it fitting to acknowledge the passing of Cowboy great Ron Springs, who passed away this Thursday (May 12th). Recently known for a generous donation made by longtime friend Everson Walls, who donated a much needed kidney to him, Springs later fell into a coma after an operation on his elbow in 2007. Cowboys fans, like myself, send out our condolences to the Spring...

Bad change costs Caps
Posted on 2 May 2011 by Dennis Patchett.
Another tight game. A game the Washington Capitals had prepared for since mid-December, when coach Bruce Boudreau overhauled the Capitals style of play. The Caps limited the Tamp Bay Lightening to just 23 shots in over 66 minutes. Limiting shot attempts is the recipe for success within the Caps system. The Caps even rallied to score the game tying goal, late in the third. With Michal...

Disappearing act….Hawks defeat Orlando 84-81 to win series 4-2
Posted on 29 Apr 2011 by Warren Shaw.
Poof! Just like that the Orlando Magic have been vanquished by the Atlanta Hawks thus banished from the remainder of the 2011 NBA playoffs. The Magic played from behind like they did most of this series and were unable to overcome the Hawks in this 84-81 series clinching loss. Joe Johnson led the Hawks with 24 points, 10 rebounds (a series high), and 4 assists. Jamal Crawford again proved t...

Caps continue playoff style play, but lose to Wings 3-2
Posted on 17 Mar 2011 by Dennis Patchett.
The Washington Capitals continued their tight, tough, disciplined style of play last night. However, the Detroit Red Wings snapped the Caps 9 game winning streak… and in turn, gave the Caps a lesson in playoff style hockey… the Devil is in the “details”. One glaring issue tonight – Faceoffs. The Wings had EVERY PLAYER, that took a faceoff, at or over 50%. ...

Young Guns Get It Done
Posted on 3 Mar 2011 by Mika Oehling.
The Ottawa Senators put in a good, energetic game against the Atlanta Thrashers tonight which resulted in a 3-1 win. It was well-deserved, as Ottawa's young players ran circles around the Thrashers, putting good pressure on them and pinching them hard in the zone. They showed lots of speed, lots of fight, and came out of the gate swinging. It's just the style of game that a red-blooded Canadian...

Avs vs. Canucks: Sparks Poised to Fly Tonight
Posted on 18 Jan 2011 by Donovan Wilson.
(Denver, Colorado) — Look for the Colorado Avalanche to spring a surprise on the league number one rated team Tuesday night. The Avs have struggled of late—winning four of 12 games. But look at this team’s last game and their new style of play… and you will see that they have finally made the adjustment to a more balanced, two-way, team. Coach Joe Sacco’s team is now trending in...

Bruins Win, But It’s Time for a Change
Posted on 25 Nov 2010 by Matt Preston.
Times change. People change. I might be afraid of change, but change is just a fact of life. The game changes. Players change. Rules change. Now it is time for the system of play head coach Claude Julien has implemented for the Boston Bruins to change. Might seem like an odd thing to hear about a team coming off a 3-1 win on Wednesday evening against the Florida Panthers, is just three wins shy...

Let’s “BEAT LA” – NHL style
Posted on 20 Nov 2010 by Jim Mulligan.
This was one of my “Top 10 Games” I wanted to see this year. I like how the Kings have been built and their style of play. Also, I'm hoping it will be a treat to watch drew Doughty on the back line for LA. As many puckheads know by now, the hockey world lost a true character yesterday. Pat Burns was the ultimate fighter but his fight with cancer ended yesterday. He couldn't beat can...

Ducks Edge Sharks in OT
Posted on 10 Nov 2010 by Alex Wasserstrom.
Lubomir Vishnovsky's goal 4:27 into overtime gave the Anaheim Ducks a 3-2 win over the Sharks on Tuesday night. The Sharks outshot their opponents 41-20 but Jonas Hiller stepped into 2009-playoff-mode to backstop his team to victory. It looked as though the Sharks were ready to duplicate their win against Anaheim just 10 nights earlier, starting off in similar fashion with an early goal and a ...

You want stye points?
Posted on 10 Oct 2010 by Nick Vance.
TCU's got style points. Also Wyoming is awful. TCU rolled to their sixth win of the season against a Cowboys team that looked over-matched to say the least. They racked up 45 pts and completely smothered Wyoming for their second shutout in a row. Though unlike their game last week the win wasn't in doubt for long after the opening kick off. TCU scored on every one of their possessions i...

Welcome to the battle of Texas, Cowboy style
Posted on 24 Sep 2010 by Glenn Stants.
How do I start my blog for the 0-2 Dallas Cowboys when there was so much optimism for this years Cowboy squad? Could they be looking square in the face at an 0-3 start? Well, this Sunday has the Cowboys heading to Houston to play the 2-0 Texans. I truly think that Dallas will walk out of Houston being the best team in the state Texas. I have said it before and I guess I will say it ...
