Week 4: A&M has a Freebie
Posted on 22 Sep 2012 by Russ Hale.
Normally I would dissect the situation a little bit but this week, Texas A&M is playing South Carolina State. Considering they are about to get knee deep in conference play and they have already lost to Florida, I am left a little puzzled as to why the Aggies are playing an FCS school in week 4. They also have Sam Houston State scheduled in week 12. After a great effort against the Gators a...

A&M: SEC Baptism
Posted on 6 Sep 2012 by Russ Hale.
Come 3:30 Eastern Standard Time, Texas A&M will officially get welcomed into the SEC. The Florida Gators will grace Kyle Field with their presence and recent history of 2 BCS Titles and a Heisman Trophy. Fortunately for the Aggies, those were achieved under Head Coach Urban Meyer who has since moved on to Ohio State. 2nd Year Head Gators Coach Will Muschamp is coming off of a 7-6 season in ...

Texas A&M: Switching Defenses, Part II
Posted on 10 Jul 2012 by Russ Hale.
The 4-3 As stated before, the Aggies will be changing to a 4-3 look for their first year in the SEC. Before we dissect some of the scheme it should be noted that new D-Coordinator Mark Snyder has an impeccable resume with the 4-3 defense, including a National Championship with the Ohio State Buckeyes. That NC defense included players such as Chris Gamble, Mike Doss, Will Smith, AJ Hawk and Matt...

Texas A&M: Switching Defenses, Part I
Posted on 9 Jul 2012 by Russ Hale.
Part of the many transitions that Texas A&M will go through in its inaugural season in the SEC is changing from the 3-4 to a Multiple look with a 4-3 base. In part one I will discuss some benefits and risks of the 3-4. The reason behind discussing the past is because former Aggies D-Coordinator Tim DeRuyter had recruited personnel for the 3-4 defense for the last 3 years. It may seem subtle...

According to NFL reporter, Albert Breer, a U.S. District Judge, Susan Nelson has ordered the NFL and the NFL Players Association to attend court-supervised mediation. Both sides came to the table on Thursday last week in Minneapolis, Minnesota with their first meeting lasting 8 hours. This is the first time they talked in 34 days. 34 days! What are they waiting for? It really doesn't s...

No Martinez, no problem for Nebraska
Posted on 27 Nov 2010 by Darshan Patel.
The Cornhuskers are officially into the Big 12 Championship game next week in Dallas. They did so by tearing apart Colorado 45-17. The regular star Taylor Martinez was held out of this game due to a bad right ankle and left foot. Another star that emerged in his place was Rex Burkhead. He threw for two touchdowns and ran for another one. Burkhead never had any big game-changer runs. He was cons...

Nebraska takes on Texas A&M on Saturday Night Football
Posted on 17 Nov 2010 by Darshan Patel.
No. 9 Cornhuskers travel to Texas A&M Saturday night. Nebraska had one of its best defensive performances in a while last week. This week will be much tougher to replicate that feel against this Aggie offense. Texas A&M has been much better offensively ever since Ryan Tannehill took over for Jerrod Johnson. Johnson was considered one of the better offensive players in the Big 12, but th...

Nebraska one win away from Big 12 North title
Posted on 14 Nov 2010 by Darshan Patel.
Taylor Martinez was not his best out there Saturday night, but he was healthy. Martinez returned to the field with his healthy ankle as he managed the No. 9 Cornhuskers to a 20-3 win over the Jayhawks. The freshman quarterback did not have to do anything spectacular as his running backs carried the load. Rex Burkhead and Roy Helu Jr. had a combined 162 yards for two touchdowns. It seems like Bu...

Notre Dame Links: Thursday Links
Posted on 30 Sep 2010 by Jordan Lauterbach.
I hate picking road teams on Thursday nights, but I'm going to take Texas A&M over Oklahoma State tonight. I don't like the Cowboy defense and am unconvinced that they can put up the same kind of offensive numbers that they did against Troy,Tulsa, and Washington State. Here are some cool links…. Ben Turk talks about his awful start to the year – Chicagobreakingsports.com An anal...

2010 Big 12 Predictions
Posted on 24 Aug 2010 by Adrian Fedkiw.
The Big 12 is an interesting conference heading into the season. 3 players from the 3 best teams within the conference are gone; Colt McCoy of Texas, Sam Bradford of Oklahoma and Ndamukong Suh of Nebraska. With that being said, will one of these 3 hold the Big 12 crown at season's end, or will a Texas A+M, Missouri or Texas Tech emerge. The Big 12 South has claimed the Big 12 title every...

Truce in the Conference War…for now at least.
Posted on 12 Aug 2010 by The Gator Great.
For those paying attention, back in mid June I wrote an article regarding the forthcoming re-alignment in college football. In the early summer it was being reported by many news outlets that the NCAA was on the verge of undergoing a vast make over. The BCS conferences as we knew them would change forever. War, so to speak, between the conferences was unavoidable and the first shots were...
