Situation on the Bulldogs’ Defensive Line
Posted on 15 Apr 2011 by Brenden Hull.
Let's face it: the defensive line was one of the worst positions on Georgia's team last year. Nose guard DeAngelo Tyson frequently failed to secure the middle, and defensive end Demarcus Dobbs did not follow up on a fairly successful 2009 season. This resulted in Georgia allowing 147.23 rushing yards per game, which was 53rd in the country. However, all that has changed now. In fact, it's chang...

Is The New 3-4 Defense Scheme Good For The Dawgs?
Posted on 25 Nov 2010 by Bob Ballard.
It's been almost a year now. In 2009, Georgia upset Georgia Tech in Atlanta but finished the season with a 7-5 record. At that time, the 2009 won-lost record was the worst under head coach Mark Richt. The Bulldog Nation wanted someone to be held accountable for their disappointing season and one name kept popping up – defensive coordinator Willie Martinez. Martinez was let go on ...

Choke Sign, Bye Week, and Other Rants
Posted on 3 Nov 2010 by Bob Ballard.
This is getting ridiculous all the attention Georgia's defensive coordinator Todd Grantham is getting after Georgia's OT loss to Florida this past weekend. As Florida's PK Chas Henry was lining up to kick the winning field goal, a regional television network caught a glimpse of Grantham putting his hands around his neck. Replays show Grantham making the choke sign four times during a Georgi...

Georgia Back in SEC East Race
Posted on 18 Oct 2010 by Bob Ballard.
It's hard to believe a team in college football can start the season 1-4 and still have a shot at going to an BCS game. That is what Georgia is finding out as they won this past weekend, while both Florida and South Carolina lost. Both Georgia and Florida have 3 SEC losses while South Carolina has two. Georgia's offense and defense were clicking on all cylinders on homecoming Saturday a...

Still More Questions As Georgia Drops 4 In A Row
Posted on 3 Oct 2010 by Bob Ballard.
The Georgia Bulldogs are going down a road they have not been since the Ray Goff era back in the early 1990s. Georgia had lost three games in a row prior to their showdown with Colorado Buffaloes on Saturday night. Georgia was trailing Colorado late in the 4th quarter 29-27, but had the ball on Colorado's 30 yard line setting up for a game winning field goal. With just over 2 minutes left...

Time For Mark Richt To Start Calling Plays Again
Posted on 20 Sep 2010 by Bob Ballard.
Georgia's football program is close to becoming mediocre like it was during the Ray Goff and Jim Donnan days – back in the 1990s. With Georgia's 31-24 loss to Arkansas on Saturday, their backs are against the wall for any chance to play in the SEC Championship Game. Georgia is now 0-2 in the SEC and has only won two SEC games in their last eight. Georgia did rally from a two tou...

Pressure is now on Mark Richt

Georgia QB Aaron Murray played at the same level as South Carolina QB Stephen Garcia in Saturday's game even though this was his first road start. The problem was Murray did not have USC RB Marcus Lattimore in his backfield. Lattimore ran for 182 yards on 37 carries with 2 TDs and helped South Carolina beat Georgia 17-6. With Lattimore running successfully against Georgia's defense, USC c...

Post Game: Georgia vs. LA Lafayette
Posted on 6 Sep 2010 by Bob Ballard.
Two questions the Bulldogs had been wondering during off-season were answered Saturday during Georgia's blowout win vs. Louisiana-Lafayette. First, how well would redsirt freshman QB Aaron Murray play? Murray was 17 for 26 and threw for 160 yards. Not a bad performance for a QB making his debut before a sell-out crowd of 92,746 of mainly Georgia fans. Murray was efficient as he threw...

Preview: Georgia vs. LA Lafayette
Posted on 3 Sep 2010 by Bob Ballard.
The Ragin' Cajuns of Louisiana Lafayette come to Athens in what should be a tune-up game before going on the road to face South Carolina the following week. Redshirt freshman QB Aaron Murray makes his first collegiate start in front of the home crowd. Last year, Georgia QB Joe Cox first collegiate start was on the road and on national television as the Dawgs opened the season again...

Are the Georgia Bulldogs the 2009 version of the Crimison Tide?
Posted on 28 Aug 2010 by Bob Ballard.
Expectations run wild during the month of August as college football fans get ready for the season to start. For the Georgia Bulldogs, fans' expectations are rather mild especially since their starting quarterback has never taken a snap. That's about the same way Alabama fans were feeling a year ago. On August 31, 2009, Alabama head coach Nick Saban announced that Greg McElroy would b...
