Stephen Brunt of the Globe and Mail, and now a report has been put up on NHL.com confirming that the NHL is returning to Winnipeg! The Atlanta Thrashers have been (or shortly will be) sold to True North Sports and Entertainment. I expect a announcement as early as tomorrow but most likely Tuesday after the long weekend. Congratulations Winnipeg. The party is currently starting on Portage and Ma...

Love’s Streak Continues as Wolves Drop Jazz
Posted on 11 Mar 2011 by Wilson Tarpeh Jr..
Things aren't getting better for the Utah Jazz, they have new pieces, a new coach, and tonight they got BLASTED by the Minnesota Timberwolves 122-101!! The Wolves had only won 16 games coming into tonight's game, Utah gave them their 17th win. Utah got attacked right out of the gate, Minnesota had 39 points in the first quarter! Utah fought back to close the lead to 2, but the Wolves decided to...

Flames Survive Dallas And The Refs
Posted on 10 Mar 2011 by Shane Hoopfer.
In fairness to the article title the Dallas Stars could easily complain about a couple calls not going there way when they could have, however it basically looked like Referee Dennis Larue was on the take this entire game. Six times Larue held pucks in the Flames zone on clearing attempts, and called a couple just god awful penalties against Calgary which were just unfathomable. Getting back to...

Huskies Drop Hoyas In 2nd Round
Posted on 9 Mar 2011 by Wilson Tarpeh Jr..
The winner of today's matchup between Georgetown and Connecticut get to play Pitt tomorrow, I really don't see how that's a reward at all. Uconn beat the Hoyas in their first matchup when Chris Wright was available. Wright has been out for the past 5 games or so with an injury to his non shooting hand, so I'm not going to hype this win by any means. Since I already let the cat out the bag, the ...

Cats Look to Rebound, Need Focused Kelly
Posted on 1 Feb 2011 by Shaun Albin.
One step forward and two steps back, has become the dance of the Wildcats, as of late. The Cats came out and battled their way to a win over Baylor on Monday, only to follow up with a blowout loss to Kansas and another player defection. Now Kansas State, at a crossroad, prepares for their matchup with Nebraska tomorrow. The immediate impact of the Wally Judge transfer will not likely be f...

Yotes lose to Sharks, Take on Preds Tuesday
Posted on 17 Jan 2011 by Robb Patty.
You wouldn’t call a game before the All-Star break a must win, but for the Phoenix Coyotes a win against division foe San Jose would have been the Yotes fifth in a row. A win also would have keep the Yotes separated from a jumbled western conference, where teams four through twelve are separated by just seven points. Sharks forward Danny Heatley had a goal and assist to end Phoenix’s winnin...

20 Minutes Is Enough
Posted on 14 Jan 2011 by Shane Hoopfer.
The Calgary Flames played a good solid 20 minutes in the second period tonight against the Ottawa Senators which turned out to be just enough as the Flames hung on for a 3-2 victory in Kanata. David Moss led the charge for the Flames with a couple goals and Ales Kotalik added one on the power play to give the Flames a 3-0 lead after two periods of play. Calgary had really outclassed the Senator...

Remember that 6-0 start?
Posted on 19 Dec 2010 by John Morgo.
Atlanta took it on the chin against New Jersey this afternoon, 89-82. This is New Jersey! The Nets have two wins against the Hawks and six against the rest of the league! Difficult stat to swallow, if you're a Hawks fan. Since that 6-0 start, the Hawks are 11-12. They've lost their last three on the road (including games at Detroit & New Jersey and can't seem to develop any consistency....

Giants Path to Victory Goes Through KC Airport
Posted on 11 Dec 2010 by Mark Reichman.
The Giants are stranded tonight in the Kansas City airport after two feet of snow prevented their scheduled landing in Minnesota this morning. Big Blue will be forced to do their run through in an airplane hangar, eat barbecue sandwiches and hopefully fly tomorrow morning, hours before their 1 PM kickoff with the Vikings. Like any experienced business traveler, the Giants aren't gonna let a...
