Sell, Sell, Sell! – Rockies Suddenly Sellers at Trade Deadline
Posted on 27 Jul 2011 by Steve Folsom.
As of July 27th, the Rockies are 1-5 on their current 9-game roadtrip. I felt before they left that they needed to go at least 7-2 to get back into contention. A 7-2 roadtrip would have brought them back to .500. Obviously this is not the case and they are now positioned as sellers at the July 31st trade deadline. Below is a list of the possible trade pieces (and in Ubaldo Jimenez’s cas...

Mark Ellis Making Immediate Impact in Colorado
Posted on 7 Jul 2011 by Steve Folsom.
Ellis has been enjoying success at the plate since coming over from Oakland, especially at Coors Field. Although Mark Ellis has only been a member of the Colorado Rockies for six games (including Wednesday night’s game at Atlanta), he has made a huge impact on the team. No one is going to confuse Ellis with Chase Utley, but he is exactly what the Rockies needed. (Although, if the only time ...

Rockies End Roadtrip in Disappointing Fashion – Face Difficult July Schedule
Posted on 28 Jun 2011 by Steve Folsom.
Colorado’s roadtrip began in Cleveland where they took two out of three from the Indians. The Rockies then made their first trip to the New Yankee Stadium and won the first of three. The roadtrip would end with a three-game slide as the Rockies would lose the last two to the Yankees and then lose a make-up game to the Chicago Cubs on Monday afternoon. There were some positives to take awa...

Heading into the last day of April the Colorado Rockies sit four games ahead of second place in the NL West; The division which boasts the defending World Series Champion Giants. The Rockies, at 16-8, are a half a game shy of the best record in the majors (behind the Phillies and Indians). All of this with their MVP...

clean sweep!
Posted on 9 Sep 2010 by Jeff Burke.
After losing ten straight games, the Dodgers came into town and the Padres pulled off a three game sweep. This is exactly what the doctor ordered. Now the Giants are two games behind the Padres in the N.L. West and coming into Petco for a four games series. The Rockies are four and a half games out of first and have the Diamondbacks coming into Colorado for a three game series. The Padr...

Lincecum. Ubaldo. WHAT A GAME, WHAT A CROWD.
Posted on 5 Sep 2010 by Joseph Davis.
Talk about shame. Having already seen a Washington Nationals home game and a Baltimore Orioles home game this year, with plans to see an Oakland Athletics home game on the horizon, imagine the guilt I carried around every time I called myself a Giants fan (and blogger) when I hadn’t attended single home game so far in 2010. I felt like a fraud and a phony; somebody unqualified to sport their ...

Jonathan “Fully Blown” Papelbon Strikes Again
Posted on 13 Aug 2010 by "Baseball Brenda" Sepanek.
It never fails, just when I am about to write something positive about the Red Sox, Wham!!! Jonathan Papelbon has to mess everything up. That should teach me a lesson to write more often. I was going to talk about the momentum change and how the Sox are creeping in the standings, but Paps ineffectiveness once again, has caused me to switch gears. Yesterday, instead of sweeping of the Blue Jays,...

The Wheels Fall Off John Lackey’s Near No-Hitter
Posted on 23 Jul 2010 by "Baseball Brenda" Sepanek.
Wow! The last few weeks there wasn't much to write about. Last night gave me plenty! The Red Sox sunk to another low. After coming off a stellar performance against the Texas Rangers, John Lackey took a no-hit bid against the Seattle Mariners into the 8th inning only to watch the wheels fall off as Manny Delcarmen and Jonathan Papelbon blew the 5 run lead, blew the save, and stole center stag...

PHILLIES: TO TRADE OR NOT TO TRADE? BUY OR SELL?
Posted on 21 Jul 2010 by Christopher Rowe.
As the Major League Baseball trading deadline approaches, speculation abounds. Every video game player thinks that all trades are possible and that every GM can gauge their potential return on investment instantly through the magic of Playstation. Well, while that may not be true, every GM is burning the proverbial candle at both ends, trying to determine what deals are possible AND whether or ...

ROCKS OFFENSE DROPS AS FAST AS THE COLORADO TEMPERATURE & COORS FIELD ATTENDANCE
Posted on 13 Apr 2009 by Denni Secline.
Is there a direct correlation between Rockies hitting and the erratic spring weather in Colorado? Or is the correlary between the Rockies' bullpen and home field attendance? Either way, we're starting to see the annual home fans’ enthusiasm wilt – 51,000 to 35,000 to 21,000 as the Rocks drop another one to Philadelphia Easter Sunday, 7-5. Easter Sunday – Game Time -...

HOME GROWN ROCKIES SHUTOUT D-BACKS IN GAME 2 OF 3 GAME SERIES IN ARIZONA
Posted on 8 Apr 2009 by Denni Secline.
Colorado Rockies take down the D-Backs 3-0 in a brilliant pitcher’s duel between Ubaldo Jimenez (1-0) and Dan Haren (0-1). Dan O’Dowd’s game plan for creating a successful small market team, with limited budget, to compete in a billion dollar sport by developing players through the club’s instructional and minor league system has been a controversial one and one that ha...
