With Laich, Green, and Orlov back the Caps at full strength are a different team
Posted on 22 Mar 2013 by Brendan Keelan.
Capitals Brooks Laich, Mike Green, and Dmitry Orlov had not all played together at the same time this season until last night when the Caps won on the road in Winnipeg 4-0. Before that game last night the Caps had only won four games on the road. This trio proves to be the key to winning road games as the Caps defeat the Jets in Winnipeg again 6-1. Brooks Laich scored his first goal of the seas...

This could be a long shortened season for the Caps
Posted on 22 Jan 2013 by Brendan Keelan.
Three nights after being embarassed in the opening game 6-3 by Tampa Bay the Caps did not seem to do much better tonight as they drop their home opener to the Winnipeg Jets 4-2. The loss tonight ended a streak of ten straight home opener wins for the Caps. It also marks the Caps fourth straight loss to the Jets dating back to last season. The Capitals are simply not playing good hockey to start...

WHICH NHL TEAM HAS THE BEST FORWARD PROSPECTS? (2012 EDITION)
Posted on 25 May 2012 by Corey Krakower.
At the start of every offseason, there are typically disappointed fans from 29 teams that are mentally thinking about trades their team can make and players their team can sign that can make them a Stanley Cup contender. What is often forgotten is that the most effective way to improve an NHL team instantly is to typically by promoting top prospects that are already part of the organization. Th...

Devils Drop 4th Straight
Posted on 4 Dec 2011 by Jordan DiRisio.
The Devils lost a frustrating game again last night after playing a solid enough game to secure a win. The Jets went up just a minute into the game on a beautiful deflection by Evander Kane off of a Dustin Byfuglien shot. The Devils didn't do their usual thing of letting up another two or three. Instead they responded and played a very solid first getting one themselves by Adam Henrique on a gr...

It can start like an ordinary cold
Posted on 1 Nov 2011 by Jon Melton.
nj lottery It can start like an ordinary cold – stuffy nose, cough and sneezing. Then the body aches start, your fever starts rising, and you feel exhausted. You've probably got the flu. However, the thought lingers in your mind: Are these indications that you have caught the ordinary, run-of-the-mill influenza bug, or are they signs and symptoms of flu that is more serious? Could you ha...

Judge Shanny

I was at a friends’ house my sophomore year of high school and the Blues game was on. They were playing the Winnipeg Jets. My family is not a hockey family by any means, so my exposure to the sport was very limited at the time. However, I went to a different high school than my older siblings that boasted a great hockey program in which many of my friends played and I was a regular rink rat e...

Conference Realignment for 2012-2013
Posted on 20 Sep 2011 by Patrick McLellan.
Conference Realignment Even though they were only three months in to their existence, too bad that the Atlanta Thrashers (RIP) didn’t move to Winnipeg prior to the turn of the millennium in 1999-2000. If they did, Thrashers GM Rick Dudley could have flown around the world and celebrated the turn of the new year in every time zone on frequent flier miles alone. If I am the GM of any team in th...

Atlanta Thrashers, RIP
Posted on 31 May 2011 by John Morgo.
(I'll take Mangled Shakespearean Phrases for $400, Alex.) I have come not to praise the Atlanta Spirit, but to bury them. As has been widely reported all across any sport news source, the Atlanta Thrashers are currently being packed up by a cut-rate moving outfit and being shipped to Winnipeg to become the Manitoba Moose (The Winnipeg Jets are permanently grounded {for now} in Phoenix). Before ...

Mission: Accomplished!
Posted on 31 May 2011 by Shane Hoopfer.
As of this morning True North Sports and Entertainment have purchased the Atlanta Thrashers with the intention of moving them to the Manitoba capital of Winnipeg for play next season. The deal was finalized early this morning as the Thrashers lawyers were going over all the details before signing in time for today's announcement. Obviously the emotions poured out into the streets in Winnipeg to...

Round Two Predicitons! Winnipeg!
Posted on 28 Apr 2011 by Shane Hoopfer.
Damn you Dwayne Roloson! A shutout by the ageless one in game seven was the only thing keeping me from going 8-0 in round one. Oh well I'll take 7-1 anytime. The first round may go down as one of the best in NHL history and it would be tough to disagree with that assessment. Overtime game after overtime game, and enough drama to satisfy the cast of Glee! We can only hope that the second round i...
