Jays beat Twins in 10
Posted on 2 Oct 2012 by Amanda Tallon.
At this point in the season, there’s not much left to play for if you’re the Blue Jays. The team could be forgiven for solely counting down until season’s send, but apparently that’s not what Toronto has in mind. After kicking off the scoring in the first on Adam Lind’s single to score Rajai Davis, the Jays were unable to keep the Minnesota Twins on the scoreboard. Aaron Laffey lacked...

Jays lose 3-2 to Boston
Posted on 16 Sep 2012 by Amanda Tallon.
For anyone who may be watching, Carlos Villanueva has shown this season that he’s capable of being a member of a starting rotation. Of his 14 starts this season, only two of them have been no decisions (including Saturday against Boston) and he’s amassed a 7-5 record. In a season where Toronto rotation needed some stability from somewhere, Villanueva provided a decent starting point. On S...

Jays homerun their way to 7-5 win
Posted on 8 Sep 2012 by Amanda Tallon.
As the Blue Jays made their way to Fenway Park for the last time this season fresh off a win at home on Wednesday, they probably couldn’t help but think about repeating their last trip into Boston. The three game sweep in July came only days after Toronto lost Jose Bautista and they were without Brett Lawrie for the first game. After looking anemic after the All-Star Break, the Jays managed t...

Toronto avoids sweep; win 6-4
Posted on 6 Sep 2012 by Amanda Tallon.
Wednesday night’s win was a sorely needed bright spot to end the Blue Jays’ current home stand. After winning the first two games against Tampa Bay last week with good pitching and defense, Toronto went on to drop their last four games, including two shutouts at the hands of the Baltimore Orioles. In his third start since coming off the DL, Brandon Morrow continued to improve and show glimp...

Jays beat Rays 2-0
Posted on 31 Aug 2012 by Amanda Tallon.
With their win Thursday night, the Blue Jays managed to win back-to-back games for the first time since the middle of August. It seems Toronto has every intention of ending a disastrous August on a winning note, having won three of their last four. In what was one of (if not the best) pitched games on the season, Toronto starter Carlos Villanueva went six strong innings without giving up a run....

Romero shines in Jays’ loss
Posted on 29 Aug 2012 by Amanda Tallon.
Tuesday was a bit of a mixed bag for the Blue Jays. Before game two against the Yankees even started, it was announced that Jose Bautista would be having season-ending surgery to bring more stability to his injured left wrist. The minor league system also took a hit when first-round draft pick Marcus Stroman was suspended 50 games for failing a drug test after ingesting a banned substance, alth...

Jays lose Bautista and 7th straight
Posted on 26 Aug 2012 by Amanda Tallon.
Although it’s hard to imagine the Blue Jays being able to turn their season around, there was some feeling things could get better this weekend. Friday night marked the return of Jose Bautista, but even the slugger’s anticipated return wasn’t enough to help the Jays come through late in the game. Saturday’s game saw the return of Brandon Morrow to the mound after he left his June 11th s...

Romero walks 8 in loss to Tigers
Posted on 21 Aug 2012 by Amanda Tallon.
The season has not been kind to Ricky Romero. After going 8-1 before the All-Star Break, Romero hasn’t been able to record a win in ten starts. His latest attempt against the Detroit Tigers was another forgettable trip to the mound for Romero. Over his last ten games, Romero has shown moments of improvement over his control issues that have plagued him all season. In his last start against th...

Romero’s outing wasted in Jays loss
Posted on 11 Aug 2012 by Amanda Tallon.
It’s been a tough season for Ricky Romero. He hasn’t managed a win since June, at times because he’s unable to pitch effectively and other times because he doesn’t get any run support. Friday night against the Yankees, it was a combination of poor defense, lack of offense and ineffective relief pitching that cost Romero a chance at a win. Romero started off the game with a three-up-thre...

No Deadline Deals for A’s
Posted on 2 Aug 2012 by Josh Muller.
I apologize for being a bit MIA lately but I’m actually getting married in just over a week, so as you can imagine I’ve been a bit busy. Nonetheless, baseball goes on and so must we. The Oakland Athletics chose to stand pat at the July 31st waiver deadline, much to the dismay of the majority of their fan base, local media, and possibly many of the players. I can understand the frustration; ...

Jays beat Indians 11-9
Posted on 15 Jul 2012 by Amanda Tallon.
The Jays’ first two games of the second half really have been a tale of two teams; one with solid pitching, but no offense, and one with explosive offense and considerably shaky pitching. On Friday night, Ricky Romero showed that he’s getting a lot closer to being the Romero of old. Although be missed up in the strike zone more than a handful of times, his only mistake was the lone run of t...

Jays lose 2nd straight
Posted on 7 Jul 2012 by Amanda Tallon.
Friday night’s loss for the Jays was a combination of one inning of shaky defense and facing pitching that was just good enough to stop their hitting. Aaron Laffey pitched well in his six innings of work even though he gave up four runs, three of them earned, on eight hits. With his team up by a run, Laffey gave up a double and two singles to the White Sox to start of the home half of the fif...
